What is PHGSA?
   
 It is not for profit organization formed for the sole purpose of
     providing a structure for girls to get to know, understand, and play the
     game of softball. It is operated solely by volunteers to promote the
     character and friendship building organized team sports can bring.

What are the age groups?
    Slow Pitch (In-house league) Age as of August 1
         6 - 8   Mighty Mites
         9 - 10 Juniors 
        11 - 14 Intermediates
        15 - 19 Seniors
    Fast Pitch (Travel league) Age as of January 1
        10 & under
        12 & under
        15 & under
        18 & under

Where are the games played?
 
   Most slow pitch games are played at Penn Hills Park or
    Shenandoah school fields, sometimes at Universal field.

How are league rules determined?
    
American Softball Association (ASA) is the governing
     body for our league, with modifications as appropriate.

What is a typical season?
  
   Sign-ups, tryouts and team draft are usually run from February
      to mid-March. Teams are formed mid-March and practices
      may begin. Opening day is typically first weekend in May and
      the season is usually complete by end of June. Tournaments
      are typically through July.
